Metal Goats and Cancer Men
Astrology has been a minor obsession for quite a few years now. In high school, I used to borrow these books from the library and spend hours looking through them. I’d jot down notes about each sign to use for people I know or the planning stages of creative writing projects. I ran into the Chinese zodiac after my parents started adopting in 2004. They bought a book about it, and I was hooked all over again. My signs do a really good job of capturing my personality, though. Here are a quick couple of descriptions:
According to the Chinese zodiac, I was born in the Year of the Goat. Goats are creative, intelligent, and calm. They have a nurturing personality but tend to be private and reserved. They dwell in their thoughts. Goats prefer the sidelines over a place in the spotlight. They are most comfortable at home with close friends, where they can truly relax. They tend to remain healthy despite a fragile appearance. When their mood shifts, however, they often become sick. It is difficult to make friends with a goat, but they are very loyal and dependable once you’ve gained their trust. Metal goats are born once every sixty years. They are particularly strong on the outside but fragile within. They appreciate culture and the arts.
I was also born on June 25th, which makes me a Cancer. Cancer is a female water sign, controlled by the moon. Men born in Cancer are sensitive but very reserved. Although not overly social, they are nurturing and truly care about other people. Cancer men are family-oriented, open-minded, and protective of others. They are good listeners and offer helpful advice. They are also very receptive to feelings, and they become moody as they reflect the emotions around them. Ironically, Cancer men do not want constant reassurance. They look for a partner who values independence. Cancer men prefer to make their own changes, but they also adapt well to outside forces. They prefer to be at home and tend to collect sentimental objects.
Fun Fact: My first tattoo was the symbol for Cancer. I chose this design because it represents.. well, my own personal attributes. Cancer is a brilliant summary of my personality, both in strengths and weaknesses, and it has proven to be a long-term interest. I received my zodiac signs when I was born from the hip, so that’s where I decided to have it done.
